On February 13, at 14.00 in Brussels the two Regions of Puglia and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) /Marseille discussed in a seminar with the EUROPEAN COMMISSION on “Innovative tools in support of regional policies of Research and Innovation 2014-2020 " .
Two specific tools has been explored: Public Procurement for Innovation (Pre-Commercial Procurement – PCP, and Public Procurement of Innovation - PPI) and the Innovation Vouchers.
The paper looks at the changing facts of ageing as both a challenge and an opportunity. The focus is in particular on the many ways in which societies are innovating better ways of living longer, better ways of providing support and exploring the role that social innovation can play in ageing societies. No society has yet ‘solved’ the challenges of ageing, and no past societies have provided comprehensive models to copy. Instead we have no choice but to innovate, experiment and learn fast. The paper surveys many dozens of examples of innovation from across the world, including:
Ensure better involvement of users, service providers and the third sector, focusing on technology development in real life situations, in order to ensure the impact through exploitation of the programme results and moving from technological to social innovation, including developing and supporting intermediaries who can empower elderly people by educating them about ICT and the benefits it can bring.
